Marya Grandy and Tom Vendafreddo LIVE:

My musical partner Tom Vendafreddo and I recorded this concert album in October of 2020, when music venues were just starting to open up again. It was our first live and in person performance in over a year. There was a strict cap on the number of people who could be in attendance, the tables were 6 feet apart from one another, all of the windows were open, everyone was masked, and Tom and I performed behind lucite panels. It was truly surreal, and also incredibly healing.

Five Floor Monica SUPERWOMAN:

I sang in a group when I lived in New York. It was 4 dudes and me. We sang a cappella covers and original songs. I like to think we paved the way for Pentatonix.

Press

  • "Marya Grandy is thrilling as Fanny Brice, loaded with chutzpah and looking like she was born for it, with her lithe, reed-like body, expressive face reminiscent of Brice and her incredible pair of lungs. Her comic timing is perfect."

    —Sarasota Observer

  • "Grandy infuses her intuitive, intelligent Scarecrow with a hint of the late, great Jimmy Durante."

    —Chicago Sun-Times

  • "Grandy plays the tough matriarch perfectly. Her ongoing transformation is riveting. The ongoing heartbreak ripples from Grandy and sweeps across the theatre. It’s unforgettable."

    —The Fourth Walsh

  • "But the shining star at the top of this Christmas tree is one of Chicago’s most exquisite theatrical treasures, the incomparable Marya Grandy. Ms. Grandy is a master of how to expertly land a laugh. Comic timing is an art form in Marya’s hands, yet she’s equally thrilling as a high-belting singer. Life is always a little lovelier when Marya Grandy is onstage to bring laughter and levity to a production."

    —Chicago Theatre Review

  • "Each (actor) has his moment, but they are mere props for the impressive Marya Grandy to play off with her wide-ranging voice and equally sizeable personality. She has also has a way with a joke, and when she gets to cut loose vocally, she can break your heart."

    —Sarasota Herald Tribune

  • "As strong as the lead performers are – and they all are great – it is Marya Grandy who steals the show... Her comedic timing is par none, and she has a dynamic belt that sends chills down your spine. It is a performance not to be missed."
